Claudio Farinone proposes an art project that reveals to be not only a re-interpretation of some compositions by famous American multi-instrumentalist Ralph Towner, one of the most important figures of the guitar in the second half of the twentieth century and contemporary, but also a " totalizing experience". A perfect synthesis between the idea of a musical page written note by note and an openness to the practice of improvisation. This work aims to enhance one of the most fascinating features of the guitar: the timbre. Farinone has decided to further expand the scope of his experience as a guitarist, using an instrument with eight strings, two more in the lower register, and a baritone guitar, which sounds more severe than a traditional instrument. "Claudio Farinone plays Ralph Towner" is the first release of a new line by the Italian label Abeat called Air and dedicated to creative experiences of contemporary art, not directly attributable to jazz. The CD, with excellent audiophile features, was recorded by Luke Martegani with the fascinating sound of the Cloister of Voltorre ( Chiostro di Voltorre), near Varese (Italy), using only two microphones and no artifice, in full respect of the sound characteristics of the place.
