All Fausto Ferraiuolo TRIO previous recordings as “Secret of the Moon” and “Guaion” (published by DDQ, 1997 and 2000) and “Blue and green “by Abeat 2005, have been of great success either in critics and sales all around Italy, Japan and France. Elegance of touch, accurate care of choosing notes, deep but peaceful improvisation, predilection of intimate situations, makes Fausto one of the most original pianist of the Italian scene. At the same time his collective sense reveals the quality of his writing and expressive coherence as a clear index of his stylistic and poetics figure. In the latest CD Changing Walking, musical phrases are built by Fausto like ‘suspended shapes’, in a rhythmic, harmonic and timbre tension. He tells his original experience in music not only with a collection of ballads or standards, but showing the stage of a inner journey with complete expressive coherence towards Piero Leveratto’s double bass and Alfred Kramer’s drums. Bill Evans and Lennie Tristano’s influence, together with the long apprenticeship with Enrico Pierannunzi, have inevitably led the Neapolitan pianist towards an inner and ‘romantic’ paths. Ferraiuolo privileges the medium-low area of the keyboard, tonal and modal harmonization where he builds rhythmic cells, in crescendo or in diminuendo, developing hidden, often mysterious themes, with continuous but unperceivable time drifts.
