The idea of this concept album refers to the compositions written by the Duke Ellington related to flowers and plants (African Flower, Azalea, Absynthe etc...).
Not a philological tribute to Ellington ! The intention was to lead Ellington’s music towards a slightly psychedelic dimension. Riccardo Fioravanti, one of the best Italian doublebass players, makes use here of the leading figure of the guitarist Roberto Cecchetto. Thanks to a solid rhythmic (Alessandro Rossi on drums) and the use of a broad set percussive , ranging from mainstream sounds more closely to the modern drum & bass up to ethnic drums, African in particular. The lyrical side of composition is masterfully played by trumpeter Daniele Raimondi, born in Palermo and Parisian by adoption,
RICCARDO FIORAVANTI : a giant of italian music scene.
