Ladies and gentlemen: Lingomania is come back !
In the history of national jazz, Lingomania became the reference italian band of the eighties, such as "Perigeo" in the Seventies. Although musically different, both groups managed to elaborate the crossover ferments of their era into a personal style in order to overcome the mere circle of jazz enthusiasts through the rock-borrowed idea of combining creative convergences Of five excellent musicians in a common and original project.
Thirty years after their debut the protagonists of that first season, with the addition of Giovanni Falzone, have decided to go back and pursue the fervor of a prestigious name and experience to which all of them are very attached.
"Lingomania" licenses today "Lingosphere", a new record work produced by Abeat Records by Mario Caccia, which represents the ideal conjunction ring between present and past. If the new repertoire is still the work of Giammarco and Fiorentino, whose unmistakable narrative style is a guarantee of continuity, the overall re-sultant is above all the product of the most varied musical experiences accumulated by the five musicians in thirty years of individual career. Among the novelties, the record also contains a song written at that time (an era of furious production) and never recorded: one of many unpublished remains in a tray full of surprises.
This group, "that of the synthesis of languages made the flag of an extraordinarily modern, conscious and fully projected jazz in the near future" (from post-faction to New Jazz Story by Alyn Shipton, Vincenzo Martorella) continues its path, with renewed enthusiasm, towards new musical horizons.
Lingomania : best italian band TOP REFERENDUM JAZZ 1984-85-87 ( Musica jazz) , and Guitar Club magazine 1988-89.
"Maurizio Giammarco with his quintet Lingomania has succeeded in creating in Italy the same jazz miracle that Miles Davis did in the 80s, by making people accept the idea of compatibility of acoustic and electric instruments, jazz and funk and swing and rock rhythms. Thanks to the jazz side of his discourse, Lingomania has been elected Best Italian Group two years running by the italian jazz critics, who are among the most conservative in Europe, in the Musica Jazz Magazine poll".
